The kitchen garden supplies us with an abundance of fresh salad, vegetables flowers and fruit all through the year based on a no-dig system. We only feed our soil with compost that we make ourselves.
The polytunnel means we have salad all through the year, and delicious seasonal fruit and vegetables at other times.
Sun warmed tomatoes straight off the vine are absolutely divine!

The forest garden contains over 100 species of (mostly) perennial plants that we forage from for food, medicine and fibre. There is also a natural swimming pond which keeps us all cool and entertained in the Summer (especially during haymaking!) as well as providing a home to many stunning creatures.
The orchard provides apples and walnuts (with varying success!) and is under-grazed by our gorgeous flock of eccentric sheep who also provide us with wool (for making shrouds for the burial site) and meat. We also make hay from the grass in the orchard to see the sheep through the winter.
Ele is often busy in the kitchen drying, pickling, fermenting and brewing the harvests for storage.
The ducks and chickens provide eggs and the ducks love hunting for juicy slugs in the veg garden.
We have also started to build a good picture of the local area for god foraging spots. Edible mushrooms are a particular passion.
